Industry groups, associations, and unions sued OSHA over its March 25th, 2016, final rule titled Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D. C. Circuit has scheduled oral arguments for September 26, 2017.
Enforcement of the new standard in construction begins September 23, 2017. What does this mean for your companies compliance to the new rule? It means that you are still required to comply with the new legislation until such a time that the case has been settled. OSHA enforcement officers have been given a directive on how to enforce the rule, and what a respirable crystalline silica plan must contain. If you need consultation to ensure that you are ready for the new rule please contact us! ([email protected]) We have the plans and expertise to ensure you are compliant with the new legislation before the enforcement date goes into effect.
